while both of my friends are singles and claimed no work experience. one submitted on 17th Jan one on 20 Feb. The first one did not upload her bachelor degree certificate so got co contact on 17 April. She finalised vet assessment and responded to co on 17 May and got her grant on 17 June. The other friend got direct grant on 25 June. I am also in same occupation (social worker), same points, single, no work experience, launched on 1 March. Never heard a thing. So I suppose it’s more like a draw of luck… Maybe they were allocated to efficient cos and i am not
Visa Grant Delay 189
Hi Venkat, In My case. I submitted my Application Jan 10 . CO asked for PCC medical by March end. Submitted the same by April beginning. Added my baby by May .CO contact for baby’s Medical June. submitted baby’s Medical June. After that waiting. Hoping for the best.
still no co contact same occupation as yours same date but no co contact strange
Could be because they don’t need more info off u and u will get DG eventually
I meant no news lately of grants being received… Nothing official.
I lodged my 189 skilled independent visa in March, should I update circumstances as I now have additional points to when I first lodged as I now have 1 years work experience in Australia. Will this assist in application being seen quicker or is that only for the EOI stage? I have 75 points as a Construction Project Manager.
Seems like it, processing times today is a far cry compared to 8 months ago where visas are being processed 2-3 months at max. No one saw this coming this quick as the skilled migrants intake was constantly high in the previous years. Its, with the pressure from the public having over population in major cities, DHA were forced to allocate migrants to regional areas, and also prioritize the visa slots to “immediate” contributors thus the change in points system targetting single skilled migrants.
Hi…Robin. Does it mean applicants with secondary applicants will be least prioritized?
But I am also single here and my status is received still… so i dont thinkit really matters that much
That time medicals were up-to date. They asked spouse functional english documents.
But after co-contact old hap id reused data (xray and general health check exipred might be coz of 1 year of old hap id was passed)
In the new hap id there was only hiv.
Checked with bupa. They told me everything is up to date. But there is only hiv they saw in my account.
Nothing is systemematic and responsible to ask.
So It is safe to assume that single applicants will get priority over family applicants for the time being?
I think not, once the visa has been lodged, processing of applicants are taken from the queuing system.
The number of dependents isn’t a factor in processing our visa. I have friends whose visa was granted in 1.5 months having 2 dependents. The DHA just applied a scoring system that gives edge to single applicants so in the future, Primary visa applicants will outnumber the secondary applicants. For us who is just waiting for a grant, it doesn’t apply.
Hey Robin!!! Does one need to update IMMA account if an applicant goes to a foreign destination for holidays (15-20 days) after visa lodging date & before the grant is received? Kindly share your inputs…
Okay… Thanks for your reply…
I think there’s no need, I have been to multiple countries since lodging my application and also I’m working with a new company, as per my agent, there’s no need to updated my file as the supporting documents for your claimed points and your background prior lodgement stands.
Hi Robin, you changed your company in between?? Don’t we need to update DHA ? I was told by my MARA agent that for any changes we have to update them and they may ask for roles and responsibilities letter, and that can further delay the process, and if we don’t update them and if by chance they do the verification with the company and came to know about the changes that won’t be good…i left 1 job offer and 1 promotion within my company with hike and onsite training just because i thought if i make any changes and if CO makes any query about that change, that can further delay my process and grant…
Thanks for your inputs. Appreciate your time on this
This is very important point i guess, request others as well to please comment on this…can we change job and make any kind of job profile changes after lodgement, or is there 1% chance that it can delay the grant by any means? My MARA agent said they have themselves seen the cases where the changes after lodgement have cause delays…
Hi Praveen, I have been through the same scenario and had to switch to a different company in a slightly different role. So I updated “change in circumstances” and uploaded my relieving letter from previous company and offer letter plus payslips for the new company. In my understanding, once your application is submitted it doesn’t matter whether you inform them or not because you have done your skills assessment and claimed points already which you are not going to change. In 189 you don’t need to show any future 6 months contract or anything like that because you are applying based on the skills you have already acquired in past. Anything in future is your life and you have the right to move on. If I still get a CO contact for this, that would be stupid but I guess will have to deal with it when the time comes. My suggestion is- go ahead with the offers and choose whether to inform them or not. ( if your new job is in the same category 2613…, shouldn’t be a problem I guess )
