Visa Grant Delay 189

Based on what Rohin said the immitracker represents around 5% of all applications. Then we can see that from August to Oct there are around 400 grants all together. Ad if they keep grants at this pace, it’ll take at least 35 mths to just clear out all the applications before March so they definitly will grant more in the future (I believe)

but the quota hasnt been exhausted yet…

Their current financial year only started in July 2019, no way that the 189 quota is exhausted (even if they re-allocated 2000 places from 189 to the regional visas).

100% agree!!!

Edit - I see it is 16652 places for FY 19/20 as per https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/what-we-do/migration-program-planning-levels

Does anyone know if these 16k places are for primary applicants only, or does it include secondary applicants and children?

we are concern about grants not the allocated places

They are directly linked to each other

it includes everyone. Primary and secondary

I think there won’t come a time that the backlog will be at zero. I haven’t seen the backlog levels pre 2018 but seeing a lot of articles and news it seems quite high. For 189 alone, it was recorded that the backlog last May was at 15.7k. Now it is down to 11-12k level, take note that this includes both the primary and secondary applicants. As per record also, secondary applicants accounts to atleast 60% of the application. This is given since family members would include your wife and kids. This bring us to the point that currently, that the actual case backlog is at around 5k ish. With atleast 1000 cases under review before the month of March. Case officers were placed to regional visas so we can just all hope that somehow, a few officers are put back in processing 189 visa.

The main reason of the slow down in 189 visa processing is the reduction of quota from 44k in 2018-2019 to just 16k in 2019-2020. 16k includes NZ applicants so that gives offshore/onshore applicants 12k slots both for primary and secondary applicants for 189. So it is perfectly related.

I know the answer is no, but still eagerly trying to find an answer. Just for discussion, is there any way to identify or rank which applications are picked by the CO. I believe it is not done randomly and there should be a pattern. I am not focusing on the individual application which varies with complexity. I am trying to identify why on one hand, the late 2018 applicant is still waiting and July 2019 applicant is being granted. Any info is much appreciated.

Aside from the queuing system, all other factors for the selection process are just opinions and hearsay unless posted in the DHA website. I’m sure that each case officer are following specific sets of rules in processing visas. I have a friend who lodged just a month earlier than me, February 16 and got her visa on April with +1 dependent (husband) while others still haven’t got their visa now after x months. She is an Environmental Engr, classified into other engineering professions. Maybe, just maybe, they also factor they also prioritize higher demand specializations. Again, this is just my opinion.

Thanks Hooch. Lets hope for small families then

Yes, we are puzzled. your assumption could be the case, prioritising on some scale.

Hi Robin Though ok, i have my other friend who submitted on Jan 2019 as like mine. Same Code ,same points. He has got her Visa granted by july. But i am not. Mine is not ,because i added my infant by April, so it dragged little more time . But it has been a long Time.

Hi Karthik,my case is similar to you. I lodged my visa on 31st jan and added my baby in april. I had two CO contacts later (may and July) and responded them back… still no update since august… have you had any CO contacts ?

DHA is giving more priority to single applicants looks like!!!

same day of lodge 31 Jan but no co contact can you please share your occupation.and 2 contact detials

Occupation 261313…both CO contacts for PCC only. First CO contact (14th may): to re-attach Australian PCC and my date of birth was wrong in Belgian PCC,so they asked me to get new one with correct DOB. I submitted on 31st May. Second CO contact (23 July) : my name has spaces in ssc certificate but no spaces in my passport. They asked me to again get Australia and Belgium PCC’s with alias names. I submitted on 31st august(belgium one took longer time).
