Thats right, i wish you will get a grant before you step out… Else your application be considered as offshore
Visa Grant Delay 189
Thanks for the details! I see, sorry to hear your situation. Is there any downside for being considered offshore?
pre covid there was no downside but at the moment the department is giving priority to onshore applicants and all offshore applicants whose medical and pcc are expired are put on hold for indefinite time. i recommend you to stay onshore until you get your grant.
I see. Hopefully I can get it before that…
Thanks for sharing this FOI, Gurminder.
So strange that it’s moving at this snail speed despite 261313 being identified as a critical occupation. It doesn’t make sense. But then, has DHA ever made sense!
On a positive note, there are just 150 more to be processed
no worries and yes the good news is there are just few waiting for grant.
How long does it take to get a response from immi on an FOA ? A fresh FOA will be really good to get an understanding of how many applications are finally left for processing
they replied me in 8 days. usually they reply within 30 days.
Guys, happy to share that we have received the grant today 10 min back.

Thank you buddy…
Experts folks,
I have a query. Myself and family were on 482 visa up until today. We had a new born in November. Today we got a PR grant which includes new born too.
My query is, what are the chances that newborn had been added to 482 visa prior to granting PR and it is pending with processing? Do I have to check with DHA, if there’s is any such application pending for new born? Or is it not required?
Apologies if i hadn’t articulated my question properly.
Hello fellow 189 applicants!
After 2 years of silently following this thread, my first post/ query - I hope you will help me out.
I lodged my application for 189 visa on 13th April 2019 along with my husband (Primary Applicant) and 2 kids. We have submitted our complete documentation including all our Birth certificates, passports, employment history since the first job (letters, salary slips, bank statements), education certificates, PTE score, PCC and other documents our consultant asked for. Last year, our consultant made a post lodgement query but didn’t receive any response. Today, she has sent a complaint to the GFU.
We are based in India and our application was lodged offshore. I wanted your expert opinion on:
-
What kind of response can we expect from the GFU at this point in time?
-
Given the current scenario, wherein hardly/no offshore visas are being granted, do you think we have a chance in getting our visa as we have crossed 23 1/2 months of waiting post application?
I look forward to your expert opinion!
its useless to contact them via gfu as they dont expedite visa applications. you will get the above mentioned standard response.
