Visa Grant Delay 189

also can you tell when was your last CO contact ?..my 2nd CO contact was last month Nov 2020, I re-did medicals as asked, now my concern is again they won’t look at the application for another 3-4 months atleast and by then now my PCC from UK would be expired…I have 3 documents with which this game of expiry and redo has been going on…2 PCCs and 1 medical

May be try 190. Some of my friends who applied for 190 received their grant within 6 months of invitation (Got the results day before yesterday:261313).

Can we start seeing seom progress on this long grown queue, now that we have a full-time immigration minister?

The immigration minister doesn’t hold a pen

That’s a joke based on when Scott Morrison said he doesn’t hold a hose - but it is true though. The minister isn’t involved in the cases, so it will have no impact on the queue at all.

dnt know but may b they will actually clear the backlog

Hi all, should an applicant who was single at the time of invitation remain single throughout the application lifetime (i.e., until the application is decided)? Would very much appreciate this information. Thanks

If you got points for being single you can’t change your status until you’re awarded the visa.

Thanks @Cachito! What an inhumane rule that probably is not applicable anywhere else on this globe - this simply translates to denying ones basic human rights. I wonder why much people haven’t raised this grave violation of these basic human rights (atleast, I haven’t seen much discussion on this issue, did anyone else?). Can we get human rights commission involved on this issue as it presumably is a straightforward discrimination based on marital status? Does any one has any experience of getting in touch with human rights commission? All of these things make one think why we are considering such a country that conspicuously gives no respect to immigrants! Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks

Just relax and wait. There is nothing we can do and immigration agents can’t either.

To try to challenge that decision would be costly, painful and take long time. So, you better wait until you get your visa.

We’ll be better off working together on trying to get current backlog cleared.

Some members have had good initiatives like collecting signatures to get visa applications finalised, but no many supporters, which is very disappointing.

when were the points for being single introduced ?..if my memory serves me correctly, when I was invited in Feb 2019, my EOI (which had 80 points then) didn’t have any points related to martial status…can someone please confirm who applied around same time or some old applicant ?

How long before Medicals expire? I did mine in February 2020, am I able to redo them before they expire just so I can get a direct grant?

Medicals are valid for 12 months, as mentioned on department’s website. I am not sure if it is advisable to redo them proactively before being asked.

Which means at least they are doing something with older applications. That’s a ray of hope for us.

Not really…when everything is in order, they won’t finalize application…when something expires (because these documents like PCCs, medicals have limited validity which is less than the time they are taking to process application), then they come up with s56…atleast 2-3 CO contacts done through s56 can be used to easily delay the application by further 1-1.5 years…when I received my 1st CO contact in Mar 2020, my documents were all complete and it could have been a direct grant…but instead they sent s56 on 4th Mar when my PCC just got expired on 1st Mar after waiting there for 11 months

My medical and 2 pcc’s expired in july 2020 as they crossed 12 months period, keeping this in mind I said that they are doing something because they haven’t sent me any redo requests so far.

That’s the same with me they contacted me after 12 months just after my medical expired in Feb, 2020. Since then there is no communication i.e almost 10 months after CO contact. Most likely they will contact again after Feb 2021 to redo medical and pcc.
