Visa Grant Delay 189

Hi All,

I called the immigration department day before yesterday on +61 26196 0196 and here are the list of questions which I asked.

  1. Why the processing times vary ? Ans - it all depends on multiple factor and number of invitation we recieve. I cannot say at this moment of the reason why it happened.

  2. Which processing time should I consider a. The one which is at the time of visa lodgement i.e. 6-7 months b. Or the one which is showing right now ? 18 to 33 months Ans- she told me that it should be current time to be considered and not the one which was showing at time of visa lodgement.

  3. What if I apply for 190 visa as it is moving fast ? Ans - it is completely your decision and I cannot comment on that.

  4. In case if the baby is born outside Australia then what are the steps to be taken ? Ans - she told that on website there is a link in which we have to enter different cases.

https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/change-in-situation/had-a-baby

  1. Do I have to intimate if there is promotion or job change. Ans - yes you can fill the form which is 1022 in case there is any change in job or profile or promotion.

  2. Is there a chance that processing time will reduce ? Ans - yes there is probability for that but I can’t guarantee you. The processing time vary from time to time as per multiple factors like number of invitations receieved, time of visa lodgement, incomplete applications etc

  3. If I lodged the visa 3 months back, and currently if it is showing 18 months then should I consider next 18 months or should I consider 15 months subtracting 3 months which already passed ? Ans - you should consider 15 months and not 18 months for your case.

Thanks all for all your updates and support.

Thanks for sharing, cheers!

Dear Aj, Thanks for sharing. Not Possible. I’m going to submit a 190 EOI. Let’s see what happens.

Almost 6000 regional PR issued within the first quarter of the year. I would not be surprised if there is only1 one person processing 189’s at present. Regional PR is where the government’s focus is but it is capped at 25000 per year. Therefore, 189’s turn will come soon. No doubt the caseload is way more than the CO’s available, hence the talks about privatising visa processing.

Response to my feedback on the portal:

The Department of Home Affairs has received your feedback on 25 October 2019. Feedback on our processes and services is important and we thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

Your application is within our published processing times. We can’t provide any updates on your application’s progress. If you lodged your application online, you can check the status of your application through ImmiAccount.

You may find the following information helpful:

Processing times

You can view current processing times on our website on the page for visa subclasses or citizenship types. Global processing times will be updated monthly. You should check regularly to ensure you remain aware of the current processing times.

Two processing times are displayed in calendar days, indicating how long it is taking to finalise 75 and 90 per cent of applications submitted globally. Estimates of processing times are provided as a guide only. Individual processing times may vary from the published estimates.

Circumstances that affect processing times

We assess applications on a case-by-case basis, and actual processing times can vary due to individual circumstances including:

· whether you have lodged a complete application, including all necessary supporting documents

· how promptly you respond to any requests for additional information (remember to check your junk folder, as our correspondence may auto-filter into spam)

· how long it takes to perform required checks on the supporting information provided

· for permanent migration visa applications, how many places are available in the migration program

· for citizenship applications, the time taken to attend a Citizenship Ceremony or receive a Citizenship Certificate.

Your correspondence will be sent to the relevant processing area for information.

We hope this information has been helpful to you.

Got the same response just now. Who is the person replied to your feedback? I got from someone called Paul who doesn’t have a surname or a contact number. This feedback system is a joke!!

Hey guys, since a lot of companies do not want to hire someone who is on Bridging Visa, even though the Bridging Visa allow full work and live permit whilst waiting for the PR grant, I’m just wondering if we are allowed to apply for a work visa whilst waiting for the 189 grant? i.e. Are we allowed to lodge in multiple visa classes at the same time?

I am in the similar situation. No, we can’t apply for work VISA whilst holding a bridging VISA.

That really sucks

How annoying
Do you know if we could apply for SC 190 whilst waiting for 189?

Hi guys, hope everyone is well. I’m just wondering that:

  1. Anyone know whether my application for Bridging Visa B gonna cause a delay for my case or not?
  2. Is the people who granted Bridging Visa my case officer? Thank you in advance.

As far as what I know : bridging B visa might halt your processing of 189 application for the period you are travelling outside Australia. Not the CO, i think it is automatically triggered once your current visa expires.

Thank you for that, Nick. Best wishes.

My response was from “Luke”

Hi Guys,

I have a situation. I have a lodged 189 in March and it seems now it will take some time.

My 485 will expire on 19 jan and then bridging visa A will be active.

I want to travel overseas on 19 dec to 26 jan. I know I need bridging visa B but if I apply do you know if I will be granted BVB directly in few days or they will take time.

Also will there be any problem as I am on 485 and BVA will be active after 19 jan.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I applied BVB in April, it just took me a few days (around one week). Cant help with the second question though, better seek advice from the agent.

Hi Deep

My 485 expires on the 10th Nov '19 and then my BVA will kick in, however, I have traveled overseas during Jun '19. I called Immi Dept. and they confirmed if BVA isn’t active, for traveling overseas you do not require BVB.

In your case, you’d definitely need a BVB, since your 485 expires before your return date. I would suggest, if you can, return before 19 Jan '20. First of all, you’d not need a BVB which saves money and hassle. Secondly, you application will automatically be paused during BVB period and won’t resume until you return back to Australia. Now, question is, once your application is on hold and after you return to Australia, where will you be placed in the waiting queue of application processing, I don’t know the answer. Reason why, I think, it’s best not to have an BVB until and unless there’s an unavoidable circumstances on which you must need to be on an BVB.

Hope this helps with your query.

Thanks!

Hi All,

Just got to know from a trust friend who’s an MARA. Dept. is opening Jan/Feb pending 189 Application and Mar Applications should be on the queue for early Dec and Jan processing period.

Maybe, a little hope?

Dept. never reveals such type of information to the MARA agents. If it is true, it will be great for us.

Does DHA reveal such type of info to anyone?
