Visa Grant Delay 189

They were Critical occupations, I wouldn’t get my hopes up just yet if I were you.

I lodged Mar 24 2020 as prod eng as well. no CO contact yet but I can see a bit of light for me from your grant.

Mar 24, 2020 - there are people waiting since 2018 mate. Unless you’re applying with a Critical occupation, I wouldn’t count on it.

Mine is 261313(Software Engineer). Not sure if it is in a critical or priority occupation for 189. However, I have seen some grants for the same/similar occupation. Let’s hope for the best.

It’s a priority occupation

which are the other trackers, where you are seeing the grants, can you please share us the link too

Well, even with a critical care occupation, I dont think it makes a huge difference for 189/190. I (offshore) have lodged my visa app as a RN (Critical Care & Emergency) in March, 2020-No contacts yet. My fellow RN (Mental Health Nurse) friend lodged his visa in Nov, 2019 and not a single contact since then. Only DHA knows how are they picking up the visa applications. I like to believe that this whole visa grant system is more like a lottery, you never know who gets lucky!! lol

Hello all, I’m in the same boat as you all. My husband is onshore and I’m offshore. We lodged on nov 2019 and it’s been so long. No CO contact nothing, just staring at the application and the processing time just keeps increasing. Not to put anyone’s hopes down but I came across this news.

Says the borders will open only after the end of 2021 :frowning: I just didn’t know what to feel anymore more… more than one whole year! It’s been 1.5 years since I last saw my husband.

Do you guys think it’s true? They won’t open the borders till end of 2021???

Don’t worry about that news, its only for tourism or tourist visitors… Once you are granted and if your country has a flight to Oz that time, then you can fly anytime.

So at what point will Grants be given to those with an occupation that isn’t critical? Victoria technically ended its lockdown, it doesnt seem like we’ll need another 1000 nurses in the foreseeable future because of the pandemic (no offence to the nurses waiting for a grant) since it is clearly coming to an end.

I predict the decision in which they go back to providing grants to all occupations and not just the critical ones will come in 3+ months if not longer. Lord knows when they’ll open their borders back up en masse.

My 457 visa is coming to end and 189 BV will start soon.

Also, my current employer is going to apply for 482 TSS in parallel.

What would happen to 189 BV when I will get new BV due to 482 ?

i had the same situation, and I asked my employer not to renew my 482 as BV A has all working rights.

Any Pros or Cons of getting additional 482 while 189 BV is already there ?

It’s depend from person view… I chose, because I can switch among firms. Also, because of Medicare, your monthly insurance fee goes down… As your bridging visa is going to active, Medicare levy will apply on you, and if you do not have insurance(overseas insurance they didn’t count) 2-4percent extra surcharge… If your salary is above 90k as you do not take health insurance (overseas medical insurance either taken in Australia do not count). It’s better to take advise from proper channel. Things were complicated… So I choose the easy way and my firm told me, whenever you need to apply 482 let us know

I have received Medicare card, so medical levy will be applied even BV will be active after some time. Are there job switch benefit on 482 over BV 189? Or any other benefit ?

@maha_elil It doesn’t seem like you’ve updated the tracker yet. It’s a little selfish to make use of a community driven data repository and not contribute to it when you’ve gotten what you wanted.

Just wonder if this data is reliable.

FOI has released these two pieces of information and figures differ.

The one who provided the lowest number may have been used it to estimate the grant ceiling for this Financial year.

Was a miscalculation issue based on wrong data or a deliberate decision ?

That’s a common thing in this forum. Most of the people haven’t put their information in the tracker.

The second figure might be only primary applicants despite they mentioned that it includes primary and secondary applicants.

Yes, but this has happened some other times.

I requested myself data an got similar figures to the lowest and also states primary and secondary.
