Visa Grant Delay 189

I’m hoping it means they have no requests for us, we added our pcc’s & medicals in July so maybe we’ll go straight to direct grant, but that could just be wishful thinking on our part.

Don’t know what stage or status our application is. I wouldn’t mind waiting if we knew how long but it’s the unknown that is the worst.

processing time changed to 18-33 months

Hi Folks, Any possibility of giving these ridiculous time changing to any of the news channels in Australia like nine news. The channels are searching for some threads and if they get this definitely they will telecast against the department. And when the news comes out the department may need to give explanation for their activities and there might be a positive outcome. Please share your thoughts on this. Thank you.

Yeah…i called immigration today…the guy was really helpful as he open my application and he told me that CO are assigned the second moment application is submitted. He said due to sone circumstantial xondition timelines are changing n its not constant. He said it has been 6 months 25 dayz to my application n its in processing stage n general reply that u shud receice grant soon. I think some actions shud betaken as after paying money, we cant let them play with our future like this.

I did not get it what you are trying to say? Did you mean that you called DHA and they told you CO has been assigned or did they tell you application is submitted and CO has not been assigned??? Please explain this clearly…

Hi Ankit,

Please share the number on which you called…

From within Australia Telephone: 131 881

Outside Australia on +61 2 6196 0196 ,

They said that CO is assigned…but we dont updte our internal processing…n they said that CO is always assigned to all the application once they are submitted. N they are giving generic answers like this processing time is not constant n it may change again.

If possible i think we shud plan an action against this amd there shud be transparency in the procefure. 33 months or 18 months is not a timeline required for any VISA grant.

Plan something against them, what exactly you are planning anyway, rage twitter hashtag campaign against Australian home affairs, I am in Australia and believe me no one thought they would take such drastic steps, even if you complain or go higher up the authority no one is going to listen to you because this is their least priority. All we have to do is wait and hope that someone puts enough budget and pressure so they can clear out backlogs. I was speaking to one of Australia’s most experienced MARA agent here and it his observation and may vary or can be entirely inaccurate but this what is also covered previously in this forum and people have came up with their own logic to ridicule these possibilities:-

  1. Australia is concentrating on regional visa’s their priority is now in remote regions of Australia, as they want to grow population in those remote cities of Australia.

  2. Change in Visa rules which will come in effect after 16th Nov 2019 that is not a certainty that, they will start processing 189 visa there are other consquances after this rule change.

  3. Shortage of staff in DHA, again this does not mean that they are waiting for people and once people are hired they will start processing 189. It depends upon the case officer’s bosses what actually is their strategy for 189 backlog.

  4. Yes it is true that regional visa’s are given more than 189 but actual figures nobody has given any confirmation, the entire visa processing has slowed down considerably and it’s mere luck if someone gets visa during this time. My brother in law visitor visa alone took almost 60 days to process, my mother in law visitor visa took close 80 days to process. Not only that two of my friends 482 visa was granted in 2.5 months.

All this we can speculate that there is something wrong with home affairs department internally which they don’t want to reveal publicly. And we are trying to speculate here, yes I do believe the government needs to be transparent it’s again boil to this point that will they even listen to us seriously or they even considering this situation as a serious matter for them.

Do we have any recourse? Or is it sit, be subjected to ever increasing timelines, and more fees when they insist on getting new police checks, health clearances, and maybe language scores?

What’s the chance this extends long enough that they’ll ask us for a new skills assessment?

A. Hey Deb, i think this is the full and complete summary of all the 400 messages above, you have described it perfectly, thanks…but again not able to keep this out of mind.

B. I just called them again on number given above by Sam and same response, i requested her a lot then she took my application number and let me wait for 5 minutes and said CO is working and we can’t say how long it will take…she said CO had a look to my case few weeks back so it’s not that they are not working at all completely but CO also don’t have any query so we can’t say what is going on…

C. I want to change role within my organisation, but my worry is if i change role i have to update DHA and i worry that might give them another reason to delay, because my consultant said that they will seek roles and responsibilities Letter again and if new role has different roles and responsibilities than my application code which is 263111 then they may raise concerns or they send further queries which might again delay it…is this true, what should i do ?

Language scores and Skill assessments are required for invitation as these documents are required for invitation or getting invited if not sure please ask any good MARA agent what to do?

Hi Parveen, can I ask which option u chose when u called 131881? Cause I just called and I entered 3, someone answered, but she said she could not see anything even whether CO was assigned or not. Then I asked her that does that mean no CO was assigned, she said no all application got a CO when they were submitted. I am so confused.

Yeah i chose option 3 and she was not really interested in checking the case but on request she took application number…

Your consultant is right don’t change your role and you don’t have to update DHA even if you change your role, doesn’t matter what job you are currently doing stick with your current role and the role for which you have lodged your application. And just chill man…if you keep on thinking about it everyday it will make it worse…I know it’s tough for all of us, but calling DHA will not help because they will give standard reply so no point in calling them, because, it’s like a call center there is a protocol for everything. I was angry yesterday but I had some scotch last night it helped me to calm down  , probably would be different for different people.

Thank you. I think I might need to call them again. Hopefully someone else would pick up the phone. It does not make sense someone say they could check the status while she said she could not see anything.

Thanks a lot Deb, m also done with enough of scotch and wine but that helps only for that evening, next day all comes back  …just last thing, so if we don’t have to update DHA, then what might be the problem in changing role within same company, as it is a promotion, so if they take years should people stop their career here as well…

Sorry i missed that, i called on another number starting from +612 because i am outside Australia and then i chose 3…but they should have same setup of call center

Yeah, should be the same. Thank you, man.

Better to consult with MARA agent then, he will properly advice you then what to do…and scotch may be good for me, but what I am trying to tell you is there are other things in life which require more attention rather overthinking about this …stay positive and when situation is there to become aggressive…then don’t back down. we are all on same boat, just hang in tight buddy, we’ll reach there…
