Visa Grant Delay 189

I also find it very irresponsible that they change the global processing time once in every two weeks. what does it mean “it is not constant at the moment”, if it is not constant why you keep changing it once in every two weeks as if you have perfect functioning system. obviously the information you provide is not reliable! Increasing processing time to 3 fold and creating a panic in people and than saying “it will come down” is not a responsible behavior, not something that I would expect from a governmental organization.

The processing times are updated monthly. I guess the drastic increase this month could be accounted to high number of invitations in the October round. Also, I believe they have stopped processing 189 for the moment and only focusing on Regional visas(190) as per the government directive to increase their regional population. I believe once they start processing 189 applications, the processing time will drop down as it has for subclass 190.

I also find it extremely unusual to think that the officials did not consider this logic:

" If ( Visa sublclass == 189 && lodgement date < 10.22.2019 ) Display " Processing time is 11- 22 months " Else Display " Processing time is 18 - 33 months"

That way, at least folks who have already applied and waiting would have been less panicky.

I dont think they have different processing times for different applicants. The processing time is global and applies to anyone and everyone irrespective of when you lodged the application.

exactly my point. they don’t have different time lines, but wouldn’t it be worthy to consider?

Thats probably because the department does not always process the applications in chronological order

are you an IT guy? what you say perfectly makes sense in my opinion. if they update the time because they granted 1.000 invites in October, why increase the duration of the people already lodged application in March? Keep March applicants’ durations 11-22 months and show the October guys 33 months and let them suffer!!! :japanese_ogre::poop:

perhaps they are trying to send a message to a department that grants 189 visa invites: “if you keep inviting 1.000 people every month while telling us to prioritize 190 visas, this is what you will get??!”

okay, if they do not process the applications in a chronological fashion, I wonder what other ways they employ to select the cases. definitely not random() i believe

Can anyone tell me generally how the CO gonna contact us? By email or phone, just worried about missing the phone call. thanks.

I wouldn’t think the above approach will make the october applications suffer, because, if you know what you are getting into and know how long does your application may take to be processed before hand, it wouldn’t call for suffering, it would be easier for them to plan properly.

on the contrary, if you initially say 4-6 months and then say, 6-8 and then say, 8-9 and say 11-22 and then one fine day, 18-33 months, that in a way would call for a bit of suffering

cheers! and yes, I’m an IT guy.

they are going to contact you on email, the one which you provided while creating the immi account. also, you can log on to immi account and click on correspondence to check all the messages which were communicated to you by CO. I have not heard from anyone nor read anywhere that they contacted via phone. cheers

Thank you so much ! All the best !

Glad you mentioned it was you who called it as gamble, so let me break down, in this forum who has lodged visa in the range of 12 - 6 months ago, thought that they would get their grants within 4-6 months and after analysing previous trends, so it’s not an outright horse betting mate or whoever you are, it’s a calculated risk with a success rate of 60% but when you gamble its success rate drops to 10%. So it’s not a gamble but a calculated risk.

in a coin toss your chance is 50% deb, who says chances drop to 10% in gambling… even horse betting is calculated risk, you know the horses and past performances…

anyway, let’s not get angry at each other as we are in the same boat and I find it pointless, let’s hope the best for all of us… what i meant was quite clear; better not to dream about it much (or make your plans based on this visa only) until you get the full grant so you will get less frustrated… i know it is hard but that is the only thing to do I suppose…

you are welcome  and all the best to you as well. cheers!

OK we lodged 12 Dec 2018, and were thinking 5-6 months max. Given todays update we’re thinking of applying for the 190 instead from scratch. Not prepared to wait for another 2 years potentially. Anyone know how long any recent applicants have had to wait for the 190 ?

The 18-33 months amendment today - wow, that’s a slap in the face isn’t it :pensive:

We lodged our application on Feb 27th when processing times were 4-6 months & as of yet we’ve not heard anything. Our agent has been saying all along it would take 10 months (which is 8 months next week) & despite the rise to 11-22 months she was still telling us it would be 10 months. Going to email her now to see what she says to this change too, but does anyone have the telephone number to call to find out directly from immigration what status our application is at? Thanks & positive thoughts for us all to get grants soon :crossed_fingers:t2:

well can u plz share how many CO Contacts u had had in those 9+ months ??

We’ve not had any C.O contact.

Ohhh. That’s even worse. I applied on 9th Nov 2018, submitted medicals on 9th Feb 2019. I heard from CO in early July 2019. I replied on 22nd July. Now the status is “further assessment “. And now we have to add our new baby. So that would cause even more delay. ;-(
