Visa Grant Delay 189

One of my friends lodged his application through MARA agent and that agent told him this news…but I think this is not true because 190 visa applications are being processed very quickly.

If you call them, there will be no harm but you will receive the same answer that stick to the global processing time displaying in your immiaccount or blah blah…better wait patiently

I just called them and she didn’t even asked the application number, and yeah gave the same general response…i even asked to please check with application number if anything is pending or any info. is required from my side, but no…

I dont think calling DHA will do any good. If they get a good number of feedback (https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-and-support/departmental-forms/online-forms/complaints-compliments-and-suggestions), that may help.

18 to 33 months is too much…it is better they make to infinite - uncertain months so that we will stop thinking about it…There is a limit to patience too…

I think the Australian government is playing with migrants here or applicants who have applied for 189, they are very sure they can’t control and develop infrastructure, control the growing population of Sydney and Melbourne, that’s why they are delaying in providing 189 visa. It’s bloody ruthless strategy in controlling the growing population of migrants in cities like Sydney and Melbourne. On top of that there is no official declaration as to the reason why they are increasing the processing time, it’s like Australia is saying to all the applicants here “Live” or “Leave”, because by the time people who have come here on temporary visa, they have to pay for school children fees, medical and keep on renewing their PCC, AFP and all of that… this is bloody ridiculous.

Absolutely right and how can they do this after taking money, better stop processing new applications and don’t give new invite at all, but they should give to those who have already done everything and gone through this tough cycle… it’s like climbing a mountain and when u reach on top, someone says you have to climb another one with double the height

The problem is the transparency in the entire visa processing process, we are not sure about our application when and where we are suppose to get and receive accurate information about 189 processing times and why there is a delay, all this time there has been assumptions and speculations in this forum. It’s someone bloody hard earned money here, and if someone says “Oh…it’s a gamble we all have to live with it”, I would disagree with that statement because this is utter BS…we invested our money here because we thought we would be getting our grants in 6-7 months by looking at previous trends, now when it is getting further delayed and if someone comes and tell me that “this was a gamble” I would say god bless Australia and their policy makers who should be far sighted than short sighted.

yes, its 18 - 33 months for me as well.

initially it was 4-6 months at the time of lodgement, then, 6-8 months, then changed to 8-9 months and then the giant leap on 26th september, 11 - 22 months, now, on 22nd October, its 18 -33 months…

calling DHA helpline is of no use as they give the standard reply. we need to call someone above the hierarchy i believe.

can we really (189ers) make it?

hope, wait, repeat.

tough times Parveen…tough for everyone

Wondering if anyone already has or is considering applying for 190 given the new processing times for 189? Is applying for 190 while 189 is in process possible?

Someone got a grant today (lodgement date 14th Feb)

Can’t concentrate on work, in office now and not just able to focus. Have already left 3 opportunities in last 2 years, just a week back had to say no to promotion just because changing role would require to update the DHA and they might get another reason to delay… MENTALLY TIRED NOW

I think only a MARA agent would be able to tell whether that’s possible, after all, not a bad plan of action at all seeing the current trend in 189.

I think we need to mentally prepare that we will hear a decision or grant at the end of 2020 and we need to plan accordingly

Is it ok if we change the job and the new role’s roles and responsibilities doesn’t match the one for which we have applied the PR?

I believe I called it a gamble before and I still believe that it is not a BS. (Gamble: a risky action undertaken with the hope of success.) You cannot predict the result, when you will get it (as you see) or if you will get it at all! Just because you pay for it does not make it shopping, you are not adding anything to your cart and sometimes gambles are made through payment. there is always a chance that the CO may not like the proofs you submitted, immigration law may change…etc. you only have a higher chance in this one but you still can not depend on it 100% until it happens. that was my point when I call it a gamble and I meant that people should not make short term plans depending on a visa application so that they will not get frustrated if it does not happen very quickly…

however, I also believe that 33 months is ridiculous duration for a visa application. previously when I said it is gamble I was still thinking that a change from 8 to 11 months was not a big deal, however minimum 18 months up to 3 years is a very long duration. just like said, we paid for this gamble or service (call it the way you want) based on some benchmark duration and I want to see the cards… otherwise stalling the people for 33 months is really unfair, some people may even want a refund because the possibility to move ta a new country after 3 years may not be very tempting…

I am hoping that they are really having difficulty with the amount of COs and will solve it. I wonder if there is a higher authority that deals with such complaints…

Hi Parveen,

I think it should be okay.

we should only inform CO or DHA if there are changes like change in passport, change in relationship status, addition of family member… i don’t remember reading that we need to inform or update our case if we change jobs and it should not affect our current application.

well said grgml.

As we spent half a million rupees on this … and, whether we need to call this a gamble or a bad investment is something to debate on

Well have applied since dec’18 and got 2 CO contacts for information, but now they have increased the timeline again . Have contacted DHA today via feedback , lets see if they reply anything.

Not sure what to do anymore .
