dont worry, everything will be fine soon and on track…i am waiting since Dec. 2018 and i can understand the frustration, but the good this is it’s not for any individual which is delayed, earlier i was thinking there may be something wrong with my application, but after coming to this platform i came to know it’s about process and everybody is impacted, so don’t worry they will start this soon…
Visa Grant Delay 189
is there a separate tracker for Feb 189 applicants? I lodged my application in February, no updates since then.
probably 189 visa will be a rare occurrence soon because the Australian government does not want the immigrants to wander freely inside the country. they expect the immigrant to go to the states that they are really needed. that is why people in 190 visa are getting approvals and we are waiting…
people with 189 visa will be special ones but obviously they will approve them not as fast as state nominated ones. that is why the waiting duration are longer for 189 now. they will distribute us over 2 years and give less invitation for 189 (i.e approve one 189 visa for every ten 190 visa approved and invite only 100 people every month)…
you are right, but what about those who has already paid the fees ?? what is your view on that? if they want to reduce 189 grants, they shouldn’t give new invites at all, but they should clear those from whom they have taken the money, isn’t it ?
you are absolutely right. first of all, they give only 100 invites in the last months, that is one of the reasons why I believe they will not give 189 visas in large amounts anymore.
for ones that have already paid fees (including you and me) they will process them and finalize them, but in a larger window (i.e 11-22 months). They actually did not promise to finalize the cases in a time frame, they merely state the average duration in their website and we are the ones making plans based on this. it is not binding for them in anyway… although it looks harsh for us, on the government level, they first think about themselves and do not care about us or our plans. since they did not define a time frame, they do not need to return any money.
Even if they reject somebody’s application for a reason that is not related to the application (i.e suppose they did not like the documents the applicant provided) they are still keeping the application fee. That is why what we did is a gamble that will be resolved in a long term and people should not make short term plans based on this. (i.e you should not think like “I am lodging my application in January 2019 and hope that they will accept me till August 2019 so that I can find a school for my kids before September 15th”)
I know this sounds unfair, and I am on the same boat with everybody else, but it is what it is. the only unfair point, in my opinion is that our medicals and clearance reports may expire during this process and we need to pay twice for a service because of their inability to conclude the application within a year, but it comes to the same point: they do no really care at this stage…
what we can do is only wait at this stage and if we finally get it, feel happy about it and then make solid plans only after that.
everything absolutely right and you explained it well…let’s keep waiting and be in touch here and keep sharing thoughts and information…
Yes true…all we could do is stay strong and hope for the best…
@freddie_wa: Depends what CO does with each application, I see the last application which was granted now was 05th July some environmental and 27th Feb was the last one for Software Engineer since then it seems there has been no 189 grants. I am hoping by early 2020 people who have lodged their application from mid march will get their grant but that is a hope rather than a certainty. I am loosing job opportunities every day as I am a Salesforce Developer as I don’t have a PR and with 457 work limitations I cannot be take another opportunity this is very frustrating.
One more grant on 2nd Oct, for someone with lodgement date of 19th Feb
Where did you see that @snehshah as I could not see it in here:- https://myimmitracker.com/en/au/trackers/consolidated-visa-tracker-sc189
You will see it if you sort the “Grant Date” column.
Yes I see that now they have not proceeded with any software Engineer applications since 27th Feb.
Good news!!!
Hi All, just read all 234 comments and happy to join you guys in this journey of Absolute Bloody frustration !!! I have applied for 189 visa with my defacto partner on 19th April,2019 under 261313…
I read somewhere earlier that if you do not get a CO contact within 3-4.5 months > you can expect a direct grant. Now, as the processing times have changed significantly, no such assumptions can be made right?
I read that too few months ago, but I think this information is outdated now
i applied on jan 14th no co contact no grant.
I lodged and paid on 7 Nov '18. All docs, incl medicals in Nov. No CO contact, no grant yet. Logged 2 issues with dept 2 months apart (both times I was out of their timelines). Feedback was that my application remains under assessment. Status is still “Received”. Looking forward to the privilege of living in a country where ONLY the best get in - and these long waits make sure of it!
Graciously learning patience though
how did you contacted Department? email or call? Do they even ask our details and actually check the status or just simply give same typical response without checking anything ??
Both times via the official website mechanism. But you are correct, if you call them (and I have done this too) the call Centre agent will at most check the Status if you request them to do so. Bear in mind that they are not case officers and cannot comment on your case.
