Visa Grant Delay 189

We’re on the same boat AJ, lodged my application since January and still on waiting.

189 lodged early March. Status still says ‘received’. Does anyone know if this will change when my case is being assessed? Or can it go straight from received to granted? I read on a 489 forum that applicants have received an email saying their case is being assessed. Is this the same for all visas? Thanks

I lodged on March 20th and it shows received as well. Also like to know the answers.

Hello everyone, I encountered following in Iscah news, forgive me if it was shared before:

"### September 2019 Estimates on when you may get a 189 invitation

Another low figure of likely close to 100 invitations

Our best guess is that with around 18000 visa applications (including family members) already lodged and undecided from the 2018/19 financial year, there is no need for DHA to issue many invites for a few months

Assumptions DHA have a budget target of 18,625 grants less 2000 for NZ citizens. DHA have a backlog of 18000 cases. To reduce this to 10000 (so processing remains at 7 months average) we believe DHA will only want 9000 new applicants. Factor in 30% wastage is 12800 applicants Each applicant has 2.0 people means 6,400 invitations 100 per month until November 2019, 700 until June 2020 then back to 1000 a month in July Split as 70% for Pro Rata occupation invites and 30% for non Pro Rata invites"

I know this is about the invitations but I believe these guesses are applicable to grants as well if they do not want to amass unresolved cases on their desks…

sorry but actually i was not able to comprehend, so what is the conclusion? should we expect grants in near future?

so basically if the grants follow a similar pattern with invites (which I believe they should so that the Case Officers’ work load do not increase in time) they are giving only 100 grants/month nowadays and they will start giving more grants after November 2019 until June 2022 (around 700 grants/month perhaps) and even more after June 2022 (hopefully we wont be in the forum by that time )

i lodged on 8th Dec 2018, i am positive but sometimes it is impacting me badly, life has stopped, all plans on hold, kid’s admission, job change, shifting house, wife’s job, i sometimes get headache, now after an year don’t have the energy to go for medical and PCC again…

So you are saying that number of invites is directly proportional to number of grants, from April 2019 they announced that they are only allowing 18,625 skilled visa’s so how many 189 till now they have granted, are they going to match the number with the number of invites because they never actually release number of visa that they have granted.

one thing i noticed, even we have lesser no. of logdement…no logdement since 22 sep🤦

It’s because the number of grants has been drastically reduced, people with 80-85 points are invited nower day, in a trickle of 100’s and 200’s.

i have few doubts, what all might need to be renewed after this long delay ?

  1. I know after an year i might have to go for Medical again if Case officer asks. right ?
  2. I also know after an year , i might have to go for PCC again if CO asks. right ?
  3. it will be 2 years in Feb 2020 for my IELTS result, and after 2 years the results are no longer available on IELTS website, so do we need to appear for IELTS again , if there is more delay in grant ?
  4. Does age also has any role to play during this wait time for grant ?

I believe they need to do so, otherwise if the number of invites surpass the number of grants, the amount of the cases in COs will increase. But as the Iscah site stated, they are actually trying to reduce the number of cases in their hands, which means the grants should be higher than invites.

This is just a logical guess based on the information on the site but I also believe that they are giving 100 grants or so per month nowadays, that is why we only see 1-2 green in the tracker.

Hello!

Is there any policy that says that DHA will treat our cases according to the current points criteria, after November? It is logical and fair i guess…

Parveen I believe all of them are correct unfortunately, except the age related one. Remember that this is a country that we are against and no matter how developed it is, there is still bureaucracy. This means that they will ask you to do everything according to book, although they have freedom not to…

The age factor should not change, that info freezes when you apply. You already got your points and got the invitation.

IELTS score case seems similar to age but actually it is not in my opinion. They will probably see it as a document that has expired (like passport for example) and they just may ask you to submit a new updated document (which means new exam result). I would re-take the exam if I was close to the expiration date and be able to submit the new document when the CO asks. They will probably ask for it and give a deadline for the updated exam result.

If you are in this forum, this means you already got the invite, right? Then we should not care about the point changes, because once you lodge application they are handling the case based on application date, not points criteria anymore. Am I missing something?

thanks, what a strange and stressful situation this is, due to delay from their side, we have to study again, spend money and give the exam again…

Thanks for your reply, well noted… Then should be matter of just time.

hello all, one thing i need to know, if i change my role/job profile within same company i.e. from technical role of computer network and system engineer to non technical project manager and my roles and responsibilities changes totally, will this impact anything? do i need to update Department about this ?? is this something problematic and can go negative for my application? should i not change the role at this point ?

Hi Praveen, you are correct except for the age thing. Everyone’s freaking out because it seems to be like re-application process. Medical must be renewed, IELTS/PTE as well once expired, and even the Police Clearance certificates. And many other documents might become void within the extension (11- 22 months) period.

Let’s hope that it might not happen.

i just talked to my consultant and they said Department considers ielts score valid for 3 years…below is the link
