That’s really scary! Let’s hope at least from now on the assessment process will speed up and most of us get direct grants.
Visa Grant Delay 189
A bit later than you, I applied on 05 March, just got to be patient…
Hi Guys
Do any of us has access to any immigration consultant to get some more insight about what the situation is going to be? I am so messed up due to this wait. Can’t do or plan anything ahead. Waiting since 21 March for Developer Programmer. Can’t imagine when my number will come as people from 26 Feb is still waiting! Very frustrating!
Yes we do understand that.I am also in same situation.I too feel like I am stuck as most of the decisions are pending because of this Visa.Anyone has an idea about the work or job opportunity.I have applied to so many jobs in Australia. But there is no reply from anyone.
Hi Priya
I am in a similar situation, my current contract ends as of my TR - Subclass 485 Visa expiring date. Though, I have forwarded my Subclass 189 Acknowledgement and Bridging A to my HR but if they decide to redundant me on Working Rights ground, what can I do? As of you, if the Jobs require Aussie PR/Citizenship, you can’t do much about it, however, if they are happy with someone will full-time work rights only then your Subclass 189 Acknowledgement Letter and Bridging A will do as you have full rights to work and study under Bridging (if in case your TR has/going to expire(d).
What is the email id/subject line of the email that you receive once you are contacted by a CO?
well just saw your reply… I havent heard anything yet… maybe nesd to wail till November till all 489 application got finalised?
Mechanical engineer, Applied on 12th Feb and still waiting with out even a CO contact.
Is it a good practice to contact DHA?
In my opinion, we only should contact them after the waiting period that is shown in the website.
And regarding the visa delay, I think they will only come back to grant visas in a normal pace in November.
Why do you think the normal pace won’t resume until November? Very interested to hear any insights. Thanks
I guess the limited workforce that they have may be busy rolling out the visa changes, scheduled for November. Just a thought!
However I wish they resume the flow of issuing of visa Grant sooner than later, it has been such a long wait feels like ages.

Hi Viren,
New Visa changes is for all the seekers those are waiting for EOI. We have our invitation and submitted the documents accordingly, so no worry for new visa rules.
We will get Grant but when we dont know ?

The 190 and 489 visas do not appear to be affected by the same degree as 189. Both visas has several grants in September compared with only a few for 189. They are further processing applications in January / February, which indicates that these visas has almost caught up with the 189 visa. Maybe they are trying to align the three visas processing time-frames as part of their strategy to get more applications for rural Australia. There is further a major overhaul taking place at Home Affairs. Whichever reason, it remains extremely frustrating.
184 days no CO contact status still recieved i know we gotta wait but its sooo hard … but it will all be worth it in the end!!! good luck everyone waiting lets hope things start moving soon😰
Cannot see your case here. What category have you lodged in?
i dont have my case uploaded im a defacto on my boyfriends visa … but hes a electrician were from ireland we lived in oz for 6 and half years came home to ireland two years ago hate it now trying to get PR to get nk over … got invitation in feb applied 10th of march medicals uploaded 10th april since then noting .
Hopefully before November
Just read it from ISCAH News site
“Our best guess is that with around 18000 visa applications (including family members) already lodged and undecided from the 2018/19 financial year, there is no need for DHA to issue many invites for a few months
DHA have a budget target of 18,625 grants less 2000 for NZ citizens. DHA have a backlog of 18000 cases. To reduce this to 10000 (so processing remains at 7 months average) we believe DHA will only want 9000 new applicants.”
This can mean that, there might be some good news for those who’ve already lodged a 189. However, the ones who are still struggling to get an invite, might have to hold tighter!
