Hey. I’m not on BVB. I’m an offshore applicant. Do you think if I switch jobs and provide the necessary documents too, won’t they take extra time to process additional documents? Just a concern. Thanks for ur reply.

No, i am not planning to switch the job…

Ok, What is work authorization in your BV ?

Hi all. Has anybody been successful in receiving a refund for their application? Link: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/change-in-situation/get-a-refund

There is a page on the homeaffairs website which states “We do not usually refund the visa application charge, even if your visa application is refused or withdrawn. The second instalment is not payable if your visa application is refused or withdrawn before the second instalment is paid.”, however I was wondering whether the delay due to COVID is a good enough reason to provide a refund (especially when so many people will have spent considerable life savings on their application)

Hi Guys

Can someone advise me that can we apply for 186 visa also, even you are waiting for 189 visa grant??? I am exhausted completely waiting from Jul 2019 for grant onshore (i even know, some guys are waiting more than that). my wife and i am separated because of this issue. My employer is ready to sponsor me for Employee sponsored PR and i know it has much shorter queue for that.

Is it possible to apply 186 even you have applied for 189

Hi, yes you can! That’s why I asked my previous question actually, my employer has offered to sponsor me but having spent so much $$ on my own application, I’d really like to know if I can get my previous application money back

You can call immigration to confirm, but when I called they told me I am able to have more than one application in

thanks mate… i also confirm from the immi department, we can lodge 2 applications at same moment, but there is no way of money back.

Do you have ACS/PTE score which is not expired yet.

My situation is exactly the same. I have PTE score valid till 31 May 2021. What other key documents are needed?

You can definitely put two applications. I have done so, been waiting for 485 and 189 applications for almost two years.

Question is should I put 186 application now?. What possible impact will 186 have on my other application or vice versa?

As soon as you are granted 186 visa, withdraw other visas.

I don’t think you need ACS/PTE for 186

As my BVA Isnt active until 482 expires. So I haven’t checked on work authorisation aspects of BVA

Has anyone noticed. Visa processing timelines have changed again to 20-24 months

The Department of Home Affairs has received your feedback on 18 January 2021. Feedback on our processes and services is important and we thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

We acknowledge your concerns regarding the processing time of your Skilled - Independent (189) (Points-Tested) visa application. You should be aware estimates of processing times are provided as a guide only. Individual processing times may vary from the published estimates. Due to COVID-19, some visa processing times have been affected and applications may take longer to finalise.

The processing of certain Skilled migration visa applications is subject to both Migration Program planning levels and priority processing arrangements set by the Minister which determine the order in which the applications are processed.

The Department is currently prioritising processing of visa applications which meet the following criteria:

  • travelling at the invitation of the Australian Government or a state or territory government authority for the purpose of assisting in the COVID-19 response
  • providing critical or specialist medical services, including air ambulance, medical evacuations and delivering critical medical supplies
  • with critical skills required to maintain the supply of essential goods and services (such as in medical technology, critical infrastructure, telecommunications, engineering and mining, supply chain logistics, aged care, agriculture, primary industry, food production, and the maritime industry)
  • delivering services in sectors critical to Australia’s economic recovery (such as financial technology, large scale manufacturing, film, media and television production and emerging technology), where no Australian worker is available
  • providing critical skills in religious or theology fields
  • sponsored by your employer to work in Australia in an occupation on the Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List (PMSOL)
  • whose entry would otherwise be in Australia’s national interest, supported by the Australian Government or a state or territory government authority

If your application is not identified as meeting one of the above criteria, your application may exceed the average processing time.

The Department will contact you if additional information is required.

Your correspondence will be sent to the relevant processing area for information.

We hope this information has been helpful to you.
