An optimist would say " well, at least some one is getting visa to enter their dream country "

189 applicants would go : " hmn yeah, tell me about it "

There are few like me as well waiting even before that, since Dec. 2018

when they start clearing the backlogs, you should get your grant!

"The Immigration Minister has said with more focus on regional migration, the government has prioritised processing regional visa applications.

As at June 30 2018, the RSMS pipeline had 22,661 applicants awaiting outcome."

i lodged in March 2019, no CO contact until today, uploaded all documents and waiting equally like each one of us here in this forum… i have a question. can someone please clarify. My partner’s ACS assessment got expired on Sep 28th, we did not went ahead and got that re-assessed as we never know CO may or may not ask or not sure. We really did not wanted to disturb existing set up considering already a huge delay in processing. Our main understanding was that when we have lodged residency application (during March 2019), it was very much active and valid.

Your thoughts please.

With this… I am giving up any hope of getting the PR before 15 months from now (My lodgment date is in March). So far I was thinking that the DHA team is just busy, but thats not the case. They have clearly deprioritsed 189 visas. I wont be surprised if the processing time still increases further after few months… i am sure they will get loads of applicants for regional visas and they will meet their overall numbers. Just like to after de prioritising PR for parents now takes like 10 years… 189 visas will also start getting delayed

I agree with you on this part that there focus is on regional visas currently, however, in October’s invitation round they invited about 1500 189 applicants then why they would invite even 1k even they are not gonna work on it, all we can do here is wait and hope that they start processing 189 applications soon that’s what we can hope for. They have already increased global processing time to 11 - 22 months and they are processing 189 applications in a ratio of 1:10 so if someone has lodged in March 2019 like myself they can expect their visa in 15 months. It’s an extremely stressful situation for anyone.

how you can say that they are processing 189 applications in a ratio of 1:10 ? and on which base you are estimating that lodged in march 2019 can expect their visa in 15 months ?

I am not saying that if you have look at the discussions above, you will see that the ratio has been specified there 1:10 between 189 and 190, how correct it is that is entirely different proposition but looking at current trend it doesn’t seem that applicants who have lodged 189 visa on March will get their grant by end of this year this is again my personal opinion and should differ from case to case basis.

Hi Guys, Principally, I believe, sending 1k+ invitation on October round doesn’t necessarily mean that the existing backlog of 189 till date is going to be cleared sooner. It simply means, the size of backlog is getting bigger. Logically -

  1. New Invitation for 189 regardless the number means, DHA is still keeping 189 option for migrants and they have a view of fulfilling (or nearly fulfilling) the cap of 18k which was published earlier this year. Which is definitely a good news for those who are waiting on the EoI to be invited.
  2. The Global Processing time in an indicator of average, more likely, the number of applications against the period of time. We can’t take it for granted, as shifting this variables will change the duration of the course.
  3. If we take an example of dependent/spouse visa, the processing time probably be 20+ months (I have friends who have waited/waiting for 30+ months) currently which wasn’t the case at the beginning. They always allowed this visa to be applied but they processed only a few and the backlog started getting bigger and bigger and so the wait time. I am not among the ones who get hopeless, but, I just can’t be too optimistic. I hope, everyone on the backlog who has already waited for more than 6 months for an update, gets their grant, at least a CO contact soon!

Sounds good, there’s nothing much one can do about all these delays other than killing ourselves with lots of if’s and but’s. We all are getting into this trauma of assumptions and conclusions since there is no crystal clear confirmation in terms of processing time from department of immigration.

Let’s all continue with our daily routines with a very positive thought that we all will get grant one day for sure ; but just a matter of time which no one knows when…

It’s just that this fruit of success is approaching us with slight delay and end of the day, we all will enjoy this fruit … lots of diplomacy

My point is very simple… lets keep calm, take suggestions from friends in this group, get to know the updates from friends in this group, but lets not get carried away with assumptions and thoughts which no one had certified yet…

Thanks all once again for your continuous updates which raises hope in me daily … Cheers

Yes you are absolutely right and from the analysis that you shared earlier regarding government’s intention to concentrate on granting regional visa it’s quite evident that they are least bothered about 189 visa’s and since we all are guessing here I also guessed that since the October invites are close to 1K+ they will start granting backlog 189 visa’s. But I believe we have to be patient here. There are many people who will have problems here but we can’t do much about it. Apart from hoping and praying that someone start granting 189 visa’s backlog.

Let’s just hope for the best, I can’t think of anything else other than hoping at this stage. As Andy said to Red in Shawshank Redemption, “Hope is a good thing. Maybe the best of things!”

Great inputs everyone and great words to keep the hope alive, good to see people who are taking time to encourage one another…i think it’s the best way to move forward while we wait patiently and in the process not become a patient
lets continue expressing ourselves, foster hope, be strong and stay united

as i know all question answer will be clear after 16 nov 2019 because new laws and changes will be implement on 16NOV2019 . immigration department also busy in updating new system therefore delays visas , hoping after 16nov visa process will be speedup .

Doesnt look like that the situation of 189 applicants is due to immigration department being busy. They have been granting regional visa which means there is a clear shift in priority which will not change suddenly in November.
