Visa Grant Delay 189

Computer network and system engineer, 263111, with 70 points, CO contacted on 19th march for wife’s birth certificate, provided same day, but since then no update, and it is in received state only, not even further assessment…

@Felix101, I read all your posts. Thanks a lot for sharing your perfect analysis. I want to make 2 points that seems contradictory to your conclusions: 1- As we all know they have issued 1500 invitations on October 2019. If they have already filled the quota for 2019-2020 by their backlogs till Jun 2019 (according to you), then why they increase their backlogs in 2019? 2- Considering all the assumptions, this trend of consuming the next years quota with the previous year’s invitations is going to be continuously repetitive year after year unless they decrease their invitations dramatically in a specific year. Although your assumptions and analysis are completely reasonable, I guess DHA has not yet reached to an ultimate decision on how to deal with this conflict and we see somehow contradict actions like issuing 1500 invitations on Oct 2019.

Hi Guys, I lodged my visa application for 189 SC visa on 31st March 2019 and hoping for the Visa grant by end of this year Dec 2019? Any hope of that now?

Cheers, Shiven

Hi, I am following this forum and I have seen many of your posts and others. Don’t be so frustrated, I know its hard, but nothing in our hands, keep yourself busy and continue with your routine life. (that’s what I am doing) Because I am also in the same boat of you and many others, lodged application on 15th Dec 2018 with 70 points, 1st CO contact on 16th March asking for partner English proof though the degree certificates and letter from college attached. 2nd CO contact on 29th May with another CO saying letter from college is not sufficient provide degree certificates (though it was attached along with the application during first submission) and transcripts as evidence or to pay VAC 2 which is AUD 4885. I re-uploaded again the degree certificates and added transcripts to avoid VAC 2 payment. After that no response and application status " Received " even after 2 CO contacts. Now we regretting because agent told us no need to take IELTS or PTE test for partner (which is correct as per the DHA) so we agreed and to save AUD 300, now we are losing 9 months of time! to prove that.

Guys, Below might help to calculate the grant for this financial year 2019-20

S.No Description Calculation No. of places
1 No. of places in 2019-20 for 189 PTS 14,652
2 No. of places in 2019-20 for 189 NZ 2000
3 No. of 189 backlogs as on May 2019 15,719
4 No. of 189 applications in Apr 2019 1,489
5 No. of 189 applications in May 2019 796
6 No. of 189 backlogs as on Mar 2019 (3 -(4+5)) 13,434
7 No. of additional places in 2019-20 for 189 PTS (1-6) 1,218

As per the above calculation, DHA can provide 1218 grants to meet their quota of 14,652 places for 189 PTS stream in 2019-20 for the applications lodged after March 2019. This means they can process the visa applications lodged until mid April 2019 in this financial year. Remaining applications might be processed/granted in next financial year if all the applications lodged until mid April 2019 are provided grants 100%.

@Yogi065 my case is similar lodgment date of 1 January CO asked in March for English proof of my wife I uploaded letter from University but again in May they asked it is not sufficient so , instead of wasting anymore time we did pte for my wife and uploaded it since then waiting.

@Felix101, I agree with you. I noticed that DHA gave invitations more than the quota of 2018/19, maybe some of us still remember the splendid time of 189 in Sep, Oct, Nov of 2018, DHV gave 4390 invitations every month, and one agent pointed that this number has already exceeded the quota of 2018/19. Consequently, they gave 100 invitation each round after March, yeah, also affected by new regional policies. So they delayed some Feb application grants into 2019/20, and these grants, I believe, consume quota of 2019/20. As there are 15000+backlog in May 2019, which has exceeded the quota of 2019/20 again, I guess some of applicant lodged after May, may have to get their grant in next July.

I both agree and disagree with this point. First of all more invitations tham quota seems to be a continuous pattern that has carried on and on and on. Not just for 2018/2019. but also all the years before that. Unless they suddenly decided to put this unhealthy pattern to an end, this should not be the main concern given that it has existed for ages.

However, itls also worth noting that, consider the global prosessing time index, they changed it from 11mths-22 mths to 18mths-33mths. I think the backlog theory does match with the processing time. But another qestion would be, why they extended it to 18mths?

No one knows how they calculate the processing time, everyone here want to figure out what DHA wanna do exactly.

Hi Guys. Need a clarification if you guys can please. So what is the difference in the status " Further assessment" and “received” after submitting the additional documents when a CO requested them? I have seen some guys stated that though they have submitted the additional docs, it still says “received”

Lodged on 12th of Feb. CO contact 24th of June. Status - Further assessment

Hi … I too have uploaded letter from college for my wife functional English… so before CO contact me can I make my wife give PTE and upload the score?

Really insightful analysis.I lodged my visa application on 31st March 2019. Can i expect PR Grant by Dec 2019? Please share your valuable opinion on this…

Hi everyone…I have a question… what are the chances of CO asking for medicals again? Kindly share if anyone has been contacted to do medicals for the second time… Many thanks!!!

It depends on the CO. An applicant who got grant in this had his PCC and medicals expired in September. But the CO didn’t ask him to redo.

Thank you. I’m a March applicant too. I expect some updates after Feb 2020.

@bhajan if the letter did not satisfy co he will ask for more proof , it actually all depends on college/University credibility and the information in the letter, if all information in the letter is matching the degree/transcript for example name, roll number etc. They might accept it but if any mismatch between letter and college degree is found they will ask for further proof.

What about this year? No chance of grant for Single applicants?

But see, 491 won’t guarantee an immigrant working in their state. They can move across to all regional areas. So I believe 190 is still crucial.

Guess that looks more reasonable and more grants could be expected atleast for those who applied in Nov-Dec2018 sort of times. Before they goto Christmas break, they may be aiming to close all the applications. Dont get bogged onto the timeline on your status update its for them to be on safe side legally. But internally i believe its not acceptable for them to make people wait. Either make them or break them. So next few weeks many grants will be seen Best wishes V
