Visa Grant Delay 189

guys. will it really take till June 2020

I thought there were still places left for March/April applicants .Is there any numbers quantifying your statement. If yes, pls do share… :frowning:

What is the reason, they are delaying it so much. Should we all complain to the authorities? It doesn’t make sense as we have reached this stage after the due process set by them. Someone should be made accountable for the delays. How can we mass complain ??

How about Jan 2019 applicants??

how are all the spaces gone when the ozzie new year doesnt start until july ?? this whole process has been crawling since may 2019 ??

These are just my estimates… Backlog is still hovering at around 13k. With the 2019 to 2020 programmed skilled visa allotment at 12k, in theory the slots were already exhausted until June 2019 applicants.

BTW, the data was taken from an FOI document published earlier this year. I just inputted the actual invites given and deduced the number of backlogs from there. Also, this is inclusive of the primary and secondary visa applicants for 189.

This is the updated DHA 189 skilled independent report. Backlog as of June 2019 which is around 13k already consumes the program for 2020 which is about 16k inclusive of the NZ applicants (4k).

This means that 2019 applicants till June should get their grants before next June 2020? I.e. in this financial year

  1. The number of backlog at 30/06/2019 is 13322;
  2. The ceiling in 2019-2020 is 16652.

So the max places left for applicants who lodged their case in this financial year is 16652-13322 = 3330, including the primary and secondary.

Am I correct?

In theory yes, if all requirements and processing trends based from previous years are followed.

The 16k is inclusive of the 4k applicants, so for onshore and offshore applicants, that is just around 12k left for the 2020 fiscal year.

Hi Guys ,

My skill assessment expires in Mar 2020. Should I have it reassessed before that ? Please suggest.

if you lodge your application then no need to renew

January 2019 applicants are falling under 2018-2019 or 2019-2020?

2018-19 program year

Out of 12652 places for 189 PTS stream in this program year ie, 2019-20, we already have 12,526 applicants until Apr 2019. This 12,526 might have some 189 NZ stream applicants as well. So , if we exclude them from 12,526, probably applicants who lodged their visa until May/ June 2019 under 189 PTS stream might get grants in this program year. Rest in next program year 2020-21.

Did you get this stats from FOI page?

I wondering when there is 16000 quotas for 189 in this financial year, and there were very few grants and even invitations after july 2019, why dont they start granting or even giving invitations and fill the quota??

DHA already have sufficient applications to deal with for this Program year 2019-20. So they issue few invites. They have been processing 189 NZ stream actively. So they are still on target to fill 16k places for 189 in this program year. Probably they will end up this program year by dealing with applications lodged until May/Jun 2019. I feel that DHA is trying to keep the minimum processing time as 12 months for 189 visa going forward.
