I received my invitation for 189 visa on 11 June 2019 and actually applied the same day. As i was well prepared in anticipation. No Co contact yet. Application status = Received
I had applied for another visa i.e. 485 on 21 May 2019, I got one CO contact on 13 June 2019 for that application asking me to send a detailed C.V. and a couple of other documents, which I did on the same day. The application status is “Further Assessment” here.
I applied as an onshore applicant for both applications, now offshore. This huge delay has mesmerized me badly. It has caused some irrecoverable professional and financial damage…Not sure what to expect and when.
You could be in big trouble if they grant you 189 visa just before 485 visa. Be careful if they grant you 485 after you get 189 you will loose your pr.
But you may already know that. Good luck!
Must withdraw 485 application immediately you had 189 grant.
Any benefit of having old 189 application in received state And telling employer to file 482 ?
Hi guys, What could be the reason for department to place so many 189 applications ‘on hold’? I can see a lot of people waiting for the decision. I know there is a great impact due to this pandemic but that alone can’t be the reason. There seem to be literally zero movement for 189 applications processing these days and processing time keeps on increasing every month. On the other side I’m seeing many people getting grants for 190 and other visas. Any thoughts guys???
It’s the second last on the priority list for processing among other visas subclass.
Planning level for this financial year 6,500 places and there are 13K cases on hand.
Thanks for clarifying Cachito!
I thought the 6500 places for this financial year was meant for 189 invites and not for actual visa grants. Are you able to share the link of webpage that has this info on priority list of visa subclass for processing?
Cheers
No trouble. Whichever visa they grant first, Only most substantive visa will override the other visa.
There is misconception on this.
I have posted this many times.
The way it works below. This is a response from DHA clarifying on this and it’s on FOI for last financial year. You don’t need to ask every year the same question. They basically explained what planning level means.
The order of skill visa processing is a document they make available to immigration agents. Below there is a reference to it for the previous financial year as well. They have already released one for this year ( Direction 87) but you need to ask an immigration agent or pay $800 for it.
A member of this forum paid for the latest one and told us visa 189 is the second last in the order among the visa subclasses listed in the document. He didn’t post the document as he was not allowed to.
You can also go to a State Library if you’re in an Australian capital city and ask them to access LEGENDcom in their computer area for free.
I think I can end-run the T&Cs a little bit here. Take the Direction 86 you have posted there, and make the following changes:
I have to be a bit cryptic because it could be copyright infringement to say it outright, and it’s illegal for me to give migration advice, so you can use the three ways mentioned to get the actual text. Or you can be a bit clever and use the info to work out what direction 87 says from the changes to direction 86 (I think it’s ridiculous there are no easy and free ways to see what is effectively the law),
That article is really incomplete. There’s 11 categories, not just six, and they’ve reworded some things in ways that make them totally wrong.
482 Visas are subject to a different set of rules, Direction 88. For a chance at one of those you need to have/be one of PMSOL, critical sector, regional, accredited sponsor, labour agreement, or something else. That might or might not be in any particular order if you know what I’m saying.
Many thanks.
Greatly appreciated.
Very smart idea.
So, they are not prioritising onshore applicants for visa 189?
189 is j. Make of that what you will
DHA will follow as already mentioned on its website for lodged applications
Lodged application may not suffer from this blow because once the invite is received your points get locked and you have to provide evidence for point claimed in the locked EOI.
On the Pearson website, the score scales are still the same i.e. original ones. Not sure if this new score calibration is already active or not. On the home affairs website, the scales are still the same i.e. 79 score = 8.0 Ielts
