I have a question regarding name change done in India around 15 year back. 15 years back when I got my 1st passport in India, I had appended my surname to my name. At that time I got my name changed published in two newspapers(I have cuttings of the newspapers with me) and submitted an affidavit to passport office for the name change and my passport was issued with my surname.
My name was changed like John Smith to John Smith SURNAME
While applying for my PR in Australia I had declared that I was know by different name but case officer(s) did not ask for any name change proof then.
I am now applying for my citizenship to Australia and I have to provide a document to support name change. Has anyone faced this earlier and what kind of document was given and how was the document obtained.
