CRS Score Calculator

This is regarding the CRS score calculator on the official page that helps you to get an idea of your score which can help you to estimate your score when submitting in Express Entry Profile. Yesterday I checked this to estimate the IELTS score, I feel there has been a change in the point system. Last week when I checked after filling in details in the drop own options my score came to 464 points,( the cut off score is 444 points) but yesterday when i checked the same cic site with similar points it’s now reduces to 419 points. Can any one respond if they are facing the same problem or my compute’s got cookies from the checking the CIC website. Here is the link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

I m not aware of any changes to the calc and score breakdown, i would guess you need to go through the points again and see what have you entered differently… did you add your spouse maybe?

A drop from 464 to 419 is unlikely to be caused by browser cookies. The CRS calculator uses the information you enter, so the first thing I would check is whether every answer was exactly the same in both calculations.

In particular, check:

  • Age
  • Marital status and whether your spouse is accompanying you
  • Education level
  • Individual IELTS/CELPIP scores rather than the overall band
  • Canadian and foreign work experience
  • Canadian education
  • Spouse’s education, language and Canadian work experience
  • Provincial nomination or other additional points

Even one changed answer can produce a significant difference. Also, the CRS system and draw cut-offs can change over time, so an old result shouldn’t be compared directly with a current one without checking the date and criteria used.

You can also compare your inputs with a Canada CRS points calculator and see whether you get the same result.

If you still get 419 with exactly the same inputs that previously produced 464, I’d recommend checking the official IRCC CRS criteria rather than assuming the calculator is remembering something from cookies—the browser itself normally wouldn’t cause the CRS calculation to change.
